September 28, 2017 marked the kickoff of the 25th anniversary of Coaches vs. Cancer nationwide, as well as the 10th anniversary of the event in Kansas City. The event featured a silent and live auction, cocktails, dinner, and a powerful conversation with the area’s top college basketball coaches, including KU’s coach, Bill Self, K-State’s coach, Bruce Weber, retired coach Norm Stewart and others.
DI’s presence was everywhere at the event from signage to volunteers to artists. Coaches vs. Cancer committee members included, Brent Haag, Caroline Wooldridge, Marvin Mastin and Mary Wooldridge from DI. During the event, Marvin and Alex Eickhoff painted live on stage and sold the painting during the live auction for over $1,000. Robin Levine from the American Cancer Society said many times, “Thank you to you and all of your team. What a night. We couldn’t have done it without you all.” The event exceeded all goals set by the event chairs and committee members.
