2017 Spencer C Duncan 5k

As you may know, the mission of the DI Foundation is to use our talents and resources for the betterment of the Kansas City area. A little over 2 years ago, we partnered with the Spencer C Duncan Foundation. The Spencer C Duncan Foundation’s mission is about “recognizing we have gifts and abilities that are to be used to benefit others.” It has been a great fit. One of their methods of raising funds has been through their annual 5K race held in August. Last year, the foundation gave over $82,000 to organizations and universities that help and honor veterans. We have utilized our resources to make over 50 award plaques each year that has helped to elevate the race to one of the more popular races in the city. In addition this year, we are making 31 hero boards for each of the fallen soldiers that gave their life on August 6, 2011.

The 5K event has become larger, more money has been raised and more importantly, additional lives have been touched. This year, DI hired Spencer’s younger brother, Calder Duncan, who works at DI South in the imaging department. Calder has been a great addition to the team and has been involved with creating the runner awards that DI designs and produces for the event each year. While we love to create compelling and engaging experiences, we’re even more passionate about creating meaning within our own story. This event will do just that. Share this event with your family and friends. Join Calder and his family to honor the military lives that have been taken and help support veterans who need our help. We have free entries for runners/walkers and volunteers are always welcomed. Visit www.makeitcounttoday.org for more details.
